WATCH: Porsche 918 Spyder Goes Beyond 200 MPH In Top Speed Run

The Porsche 918 Spyder is a legendary hypercar that’s just as equally exotic. With only 918 units produced during its short production run, seeing one in action is as rare as a hen’s teeth. Then again, the folks over at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds proved that nothing is impossible and put one in its paces for a 2.3-mile top-speed run at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Getting a 918 Spyder to go all out on a top-speed run is one thing, but what makes this specific unit special is it’s equipped with the Weissach Package. For the uninitiated, this factory-installed package shaves 90 pounds off the 918 Spyder’s hefty 3,693 lbs. It also adds six-point harnesses, winglets, and additional aero flaps making for a track-ready monster of a car.
