‘Rs 5,000cr corpus for startups, 30L govt jobs if elected’ – The Times of India


Panaji: If the INDIA bloc wins the Lok Sabha elections and forms govt at the Centre, it will take steps to fill 30 lakh vacant govt posts, provide apprenticeship, prevent paper leaks and create a corpus Rs 5,000 crore corpus for startups.

State Congress president Amit Patkar, who made the assurance, said that in the last two terms, the Narendra Modi-govt failed to create employment.

“Our party is committed to help unemployed youths by filling the vacant posts in various departments, which BJP has failed to do,” he said.

The party has also promised to launch a one-year apprenticeship with a private or a public sector company for every diploma holder or college graduate below the age of 25, and work for the welfare of gig workers.

“Congress will create a Rs 5,000 crore corpus, with allotments spread across all districts of the country for a period of five years. Youth below the age of 40 years can avail start-up funding for their business enterprises in any sector,” he said.

Opposition leader Yuri Alemao said that with the opposition parties coming together, “we can rattle the 34% vote base of the BJP” in Goa.
