Whiten and remove stains from clothes and socks in 1 hour with cleaner’s ‘powerful mix’

Stains seem to be attracted and more susceptible to white laundry, particularly to your t-shirts and socks.

Knowing how to wash white clothes without bleach is important to remove common sweat, dirt, food, or drink stains.

Whites and brightly coloured fabrics may even become yellowed, dingy, or dull over time without there being a cause.

Even if you know how to properly wash your clothes to prevent dark fabric dyes from bleeding onto other items, some discolouration is almost inevitable.

Rather than using caustics or optical brighteners, you can turn to the right ingredients and techniques to help save the day with bleach alternatives.

Taking to her Instagram page @mama_mila_au, Chantel Mila Ibbotson has shared a three-ingredient “powerful” mix to restore your whites so that they are “brighter” than ever.

She captioned the video: “How to make your white clothes look new again. Say goodbye to dingy white clothes.

“This simple method keeps your whites looking whiter and brighter. It’s perfect for socks, t-shirts and linens.”

Chantel starts by showing the camera a stained white t-shirt before adding it to a bowl and pouring over warm water until the top is completely submerged.

She then adds one-quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide (to brighten and disinfect), one cup of baking soda (to deodorise and brighten) and one teaspoon of dish soap.

Chantel claimed: “This powerful mix lifts stains and makes your whites look brighter.”

Depending on the stain, the dish soap can be left out as it is only needed when removing oil-based stains.

The cleaning pro then left the top to soak before washing it as usual in the washing machine.

Taking to the comments section, fellow Instagram users were fans of this method but wondered how long the clothes should be left to soak in the solution.

@blasian86 asked: “How long to soak for?” Chantel replied: “Usually an hour or two.”
