Week of May 12 Cable News Ratings: Fox News Outdraws Live Sports During Weekday Primetime

When looking at these networks’ performance during the same period a year ago (the week of May 13):

  • During primetime, Fox News rose +26% in total viewers and +52% in the A25-54 demo. During total day, the network saw gains of +23% in total viewers and +32% in the demo.
  • MSNBC dropped -29% in total viewers and -40% in the demo. During total day, the network was down -36% in total viewers and -44% in the demo.
  •  In primetime, CNN fell by -16% in total viewers and -11% in the demo. During total day, it dropped by -28% in total viewers and -29% in the demo.

PROGRAMMING:

Fox News occupied 14 out of the 15 spots of the most-watched cable news shows of the week in total viewers, with The Five (3.758 million at 5 p.m.) leading the way. MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show (1.704 million at 9 p.m. ET on Monday) was in the No. 13 position.  

The Five (380,000 viewers) also led the most-watched shows among the Adults 25-54 demo, with the network claiming 14 our of the top 15 spots. The Rachel Maddow Show (116,000 viewers) finished at No. 15.
