A BUDGET airline has just launched flights to a country in eastern Europe that’s often overlooked by Brit holidaymakers.
Wizz Air is relaunching flights to Chişinău – the capital of Moldova.

Earlier this year, the budget airline suspended flights to Moldova’s capital because of concerns regarding airspace.
The relaunched flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, from London Luton Airpot to Chişinău, with several flight options for holidaymakers to choose from.
Prices start from £17.99 for a one-way ticket, with a flight time of three hours and 15 minutes.
Set in Eastern Europe, Moldova is a landlocked country that shares its border with Romania and Ukraine.
Because Moldova was part of the Soviet Union until 1991, Chişinău is filled with examples of Soviet and brutalist architecture.
One of the city’s most famous attractions is its large number of wineries, with tours and tastings routinely offered.
Founded in 1969, Milestii Mici is the largest underground wine cellar in the world.
The wine cellar stretches for a whopping 250m, and visitors have described it as a ‘must-visit’ when in the capital city.
In a post on TripAdvisor, one person wrote: “One of the essential Moldova experiences.”
While another added: “No matter if this will be your first time in Moldova or you are returning. Visiting this place is worth it every time.”
Cricova is another popular winery, and it is home to the second-largest wine cellar in Chişinău.
Chişinău is also home to the National Museum of Moldova.
Set in the heart of the city, entry into the museum only costs £1, with visitors being able to delve into the city’s history.
Other popular tourist attractions in Chişinău include the Nativity Cathedral and a walk along the Triumphal Arch.

Despite ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which borders Moldova, destinations like Chişinău remain safe for travel.
Travel is only advised against Transnistria, an unrecognised state that shares its border with Ukraine.
Earlier this year, low-budget airline Ryanair announced that it was adding seven new routes from its three London airports.
The seven new routes include Belfast, Basel, Ouarzazate in Morocco, Poprad in Slovakia, Tirana, Treviso, and Vigo.
The budget airline will also add more flights to 30 other routes that it operates out of Stansted, Luton, and Gatwick.
Earlier this week, TUI announced that it would be relaunching flights to Porto Santo, a Portuguese island just 25 miles off the coast of Madeira.
