South Shore high school top performers May 6-12 – Enterprise News


There are three weeks remaining in the high school spring sports season.

The MIAA power rankings is littered with teams from across the South Shore with dreams of winning state titles. But in the meantime, league titles and playoff positioning are the immediate goals.

Monday, May 6

BOYS LACROSSE

Todd Egan scored 6 goals and 2 assists in South Shore Tech’s 17-9 win over Blue Hills. Tyler Kline and Ben Tondorf (assist) each had hat tricks while James Hoey had 2 goals and an assist.

Hanover defeated Abington, 12-8. Hunter Grafton (2 assists), Ian Barrett (assist) and Jonathan Halpin each had 2 goals in the loss.

Mansfield defeated Oliver Ames, 21-7. Ryan Jaco (3 goals), Evan Jaco (3 assists) and Lucas Gangi (goal, 2 assists) each had 3 points in the loss.

Teddy Glynn had 4 goals and and Nolan Petrucelli had a goal and 4 assists in Norwell’s 20-1 win over Mashpee.

Stoughton’s Jack Carr had 2 goals and goaltender Sean McGowan had 1 goal in a 17-3 loss to North Attleboro.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Hull’s Maeve Mulvihill scored her first varsity goal in a 19-1 win over Rockland.

Milton defeated North Quincy, 13-8.

Norwell’s Danielle Cox (3 goals, 2 assists) and Holly Panttila (3 goals) had big games in Norwell’s 16-3 win over Mashpee.

Ashley McLaren (3 goals, assist) and Claire Fitzsimmons (2 goals, assist) in Bridgewater-Raynham’s 9-7 loss to Falmouth.

Hingham defeated Cohasset, 16-12. In the loss, Reese Hansen had 15 draw controls. Emma Driscoll made 7 saves in her first varsity start while Avery Regan (3 goals, 3 assists) and Laney Larsen (4 goals) contributed offensively.

Taylor McAndrew had a hat trick in Oliver Ames’ 11-10 loss to Mansfield. Olivia O’Rourke, Leanna Hudson and Kayla Isleib all had 2 goals. Olivia Magee made 10 saves.

BASEBALL

Joey Foley had 3 hits and 2 RBIs and Collin Meserve added 3 RBIs and 2 hits in East Bridgewater’s 12-2 win over Carver. Brody Lovell and Johnny King both had 2 hits and 3 runs. Jaden Lovell pitched a complete game. Ryder Holmes was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run in the loss.

Jordan Medeiros struck out 13 batters and allowed 5 hits in Avon’s 5-2 win over Rising Tide. He also had a triple, 3 runs and 5 stolen bases. Robert Rose and Anthony Fuller made key defensive plays in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the win.

Pembroke’s Evan O’Brien pitched a complete game in a 2-1 win over Hanover.

Weymouth’s Jack Reyes pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts in a 6-2 win over Framingham. Cam Munchbach had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Hull defeated Quincy, 4-3.

Brady McGraw pitched well on the mound in Norwell’s 11-1 win over Famouth. Liam Shepherd went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Colin McCarthy drove in 4 RBIs and Will Corbin drove in 2.

SOFTBALL

Ella Franey earned her first varsity win in her first career start as she went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs in an 18-3 win over Sandwich. Calli Pineau, Malia Goldberg, Kasie Bailey Riley Agnew, Liv Dambra and Ava DiPietro all had multi-hit days.

Quincy/North Quincy defeated Brockton, 25-4.

Sam Waters was 3-for-3 with a home run in Silver Lake’s 6-0 win over Bishop Feehan. Alannah Waters had 2 hits, including a home run. Nina O’Neil had 2 hits and Delaney Moquin struck out 9 in the shutout effort.

Pembroke’s Kelly McGee fired a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Falmouth. That tally included her 500th career strikeout.

Archbishop Williams’ Monica Kelly had 2 home runs and 7 RBIs in a 14-1 win over Boston Latin Academy. Alyssa Burke blasted 2 home runs and Jill Ondrick hit one. Rosa McLaughlin had her first varsity hit.

Milton’s Cara Facey drove in Sadie Steuterman for a walk-off win in a 4-3 triumph over Newton North. MK Maloney pitched a complete game in the win for the undefeated Wildcats (11-0).

Gabby Diaute went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, 3 runs, a double and a triple in Braintree’s 10-3 win over Natick. Bella Wuesterfeld went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Crystyliah Covel had a home run, double, 2 runs and 2 RBIs in Oliver Ames’ 7-4 win over Milford.

East Bridgewater’s Maggie Schlossberg and Mia Holmes combine for 11 strikeouts in East Bridgewater’s 10-2 win over Carver. Bella Abrams and Maddie Blette each had 2 RBIs. In the loss, Maddie Butler had 2 hits and Lyla Moore had a 2-RBI single.

Weymouth lost to Framingham despite solid days from Paige Sellon and Abby Reed.

BOYS TENNIS

Duxbury defeated Hingham, 4-1. Tim Vargas (first) and Peter Burnham (third) won their singles matches while Tucker Catalano/Willie Pierce (first) and Bennet Stout/Brandon Marconi (second) won their doubles matches.

North Quincy defeated Norwell, 5-0.

GIRLS TENNIS

Hanover defeated Whitman-Hanson, 3-2. W-H’s doubles teams of Sophie Ennis/Maddy Morris (first) and Mary Lynam/Maria Santalucia (second) were victorious.

Milton defeated Needham, 3-2.

Norwell defeated North Quincy, 4-1.

Nicole Kimball, Eily Mitchell, Chloe Nichols and Caroline Stull/Selena Georgakopolous won their matches as Bridgewater-Raynham defeated Silver Lake, 4-1.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD

Case defeated West Bridgewater, 70-66. In the loss, Kenly Laime won the shot put, high jump, 200m and 4x100m relay.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Case defeated West Bridgewater, 85-51. WB’s 4x400m relay team of Brianna DePalma, Leah Perez, Kerri Gomes, and Viv Morales-Wakin won.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Durfee defeated Quincy, 3-1.

North Quincy defeated Taunton, 3-0.

GIRLS GOLF

Hingham defeated Quincy/North Quincy, 6-0.
