BROCKTON — The National Weather Service station in Norton, one of the closest official weather observation stations to the Brockton area, received a total of 5” of snow over a 24-hour period during this weekend’s snowstorm.
Due to this weekend’s snowfall, combined with predicted rain showers Tuesday night, a flood watch remains in effect in Brockton tomorrow evening and lasting through Wednesday afternoon.
“Rainfall of between two to three inches falling Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, in combination with snowmelt, may result in rapid stream and river rises,” the NWS wrote in a flood watch published at 3:50 a.m. this morning. “Snow clogged drains may also contribute to the flood risk in poor drainage and urban areas,” they continued.
Brockton usually receives a mean total of 10.3” of snowfall in the month of January, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Online Weather Data (NOWData), with a maximum total of 31.3” in January of 2015.
