Prosecutors alleged the man, 42, was part of a burglary ring that stole about $400,000 from video game machines in Illinois businesses.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man pleaded guilty to stealing cash from video poker machines at restaurants, bars and small businesses across the state, according to Attorney General Kwame Raoul.
Brian Morgan’s guilty plea to one count of felony theft and one count of felony burglary is part of an ongoing burglary case being investigated by the Illinois Gaming Board, Illinois State Police and several local law enforcement agencies.
The 42-year-old was sentenced to nine years in prison for each charge. He is currently in prison serving a sentence connected to unrelated charges.
He was originally charged with 24 counts of burglary, one count of theft and two counts of money laundering, according to Raoul.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office filed charges against four people, including Morgan, in August 2022, accusing them of stealing from video game machines at businesses in Carroll, DeKalb, Grundy, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, Mason, McLean, Ogle and Will counties.
The burglary ring stole about $400,000, officials said.
“This case is the result of countless hours of cooperation between my office and several law enforcement agencies,” Raoul said in a statement. “I would like to thank the many agencies that collaborated with my office on this investigation and helped us break up this burglary operation and hold the members accountable.”
