Lynx Motors Unveils Reimagined Electric Ford GT And DeLorean

Lynx Motors has announced two brand-new electric vehicles, and they couldn’t be more different. The first, dubbed the GT1e, is a Ford GT that’s been developed into a track-ready supercar. The second is a reimagined DMC DeLorean called the DMC EV. Both appear to be based on the chassis of the original vehicles, though we find it difficult to imagine cutting up either in the name of electrification.

Lynx Motor, not to be confused with US-bound Lynk and Co, is a brand-new company that aims to breathe new life into legendary vehicles by, “improving every aspect of the driving experience from class-leading interior comfort, to superior safety, and technology.” The company’s website is full of buzzwords and rather thin on exact information, but it does have intriguing vehicles.

GT1e

This track-ready race car is the more fleshed-out of the two concepts with real pictures instead of just renderings. Lynx says it acquired all the designs from a company called Matech Concepts out of Switzerland which was planning to compete in FIA GT1 racing. Lynx took ownership of the 2005 Ford GT chassis along with the body models and set about turning it into a true road-ready exotic, and the numbers it’s touting are downright insane.

It boasts a four-motor electric drivetrain with 2,400 horsepower that can shoot from 0-60 mph in an estimated 1.5 seconds. Top speed? A cool 310 mph (estimated). It will be powered by a 100kWh Amprius battery pack capable of offering 250 miles (estimated) on a single charge, before being re-juiced thanks to its now ubiquitous NACS connector.

It will feature a host of design changes inside and out that will make it look at home on the track, but the company says it intends to make it road-legal. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but will probably make EVs like the Tesla Model S look like a bargain.

DMC-EV

The DMC-EV is the more aspirational of the two, featuring a futuristic interpretation of the original DMC-12 thanks to new aero enhancements, lighting, and redesigned front and rear fascias. It retains the iconic gullwing doors, of course, but its drivetrain is decidedly more modern thanks to an AWD setup that will produce an undisclosed amount of power but will shoot you to 60 mph in “about 4 seconds.”

This might be the fastest, most powerful DeLorean in the world.

Other features include a 70 kWh CATL battery pack, NACS charging, an estimated 250-mile range, and modern technology enhancements. The vehicle does look good, even if it’s not as good as the DeLorean Alpha5. We hope the company can bring one-or-both of these models to market, but with so much “estimating” going on, it’s going to be quite some time before that happens.
