Krafton’s 2024 expansion plan includes AI, India and 20 games

Krafton held a town-hall meeting today in which the CEO revealed more of the company’s plans for expansion in 2024 and beyond. The company’s previously stated “Scale Up the Creative” expansion plans are the basis of its current strategy, which involve several games, including two coming out this year. It also plans to expand the Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds brand, as well as explore expansion opportunities in India.

CEO Changhan Kim spoke in detail about the publisher’s expansion strategy, including its planned game launch schedule. Krafton plans to publish two games in 2024: Dark and Darker Mobile (which it confirmed last November) and life simulation game inZOI. It also has 20 games in development, including Dinkum Mobile, Project Black Budget and Subnautica 2.

Krafton plans to expand the PUBG brand as part of its long-term strategy, implying it wants to invest internal and external development resources. It’s also considering outsourcing development of new PUBG properties as part of its plan to franchise the brand. As part of the aforementioned opportunities in India, it wants to build out the Battlegrounds Mobile India title and explore publishing and esports in the country.

Kim also said that Krafton’s scale-up includes investing in AI and deep learning technology, which it refers to as a “game-changer.” It will utilize the tech in game development and improve production efficiency.
