Internet, wireless outages continue – Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — Internet and wireless communication outages that affected businesses, the
Port Angeles School District, Olympic Medical Center and customers in Joyce and as far west Neah Bay beginning Thursday extended into its second day Friday.

Customers of AT&T, T-Mobile and Lumen (formerly CenturyLink) were unable to make or receive calls or use the internet.

Some Lumen businesses customers, such as the Red Lion Hotel and Chase Bank, were unable to process electronic transactions. OMC’s medical records system was impacted by the Lumen outage, as well.

The Port Angeles School District, which is a Lumen customer, alerted families Thursday via text that it was experiencing an outage.

The district was told a part was needed to make the repair, but not when the service would be up and running again.

A Lumen Technologies representative in an email on Friday said that about 3,000 voice, internet and cell service customers had been affected by “an internal equipment issue.”

She said, “Our technicians are working non-stop to restore services. I don’t have an estimated time for repairs to be completed as yet … We appreciate everyone’s patience.”

A T-Mobile representative said the problem with its service appeared to be related to an issue that one of its providers was experiencing with its network.

An AT&T representative did not respond to numerous queries on Friday regarding outages to its 4G and 5G networks.

According to a press release from the City of Port Angeles, the interruptions in cell and internet services were not “City related,” and its data, telephone system and PenCom Center emergency dispatch services were not impacted.
