Elon Musk defers India visit until after elections


Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk may have postponed his India visit and may visit the country only after the elections, sources in the know of the development told ET.
Musk was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi early next week. He was also scheduled to meet senior officials from the state governments where Tesla might set up an electric vehicle assembly unit and other space-tech startup executives.

The space-tech startup executives, who were scheduled to meet the Tesla chief on Monday, were informed early morning on Saturday that their meeting with Musk stood cancelled.

“We have not been told the new dates of the meeting. It may happen only after the elections,” a government official told ET.

On Monday, Musk was scheduled to meet spacetech startups such as Agnikul Cosmos, Bellatrix Aerospace, Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Pixxel, SatSure and Digantara to meet Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk in New Delhi.

According to sources, Musk was scheduled to meet senior executives from the government to discuss the finer details and requirements of setting up the EV car assembly plant and Starlink internet service.
