Deceit 2 goes free-to-play ahead of console launch on April 3

World Makers announced today that it is relaunching its social deduction/survival title, Deceit 2, on PC as a free-to-play game. According to the developers, the game has received a rework in response to player criticism and will receive a premium content update called the Werewolf Pack. The developer also announced that it’s launching on PlayStation and Xbox on April 3.

Deceit 2 is a co-op horror title in which two players are Infected, secretly working against the Innocent (uninfected) players. According to World Makers, they’ve shaken the dynamic by adding a third faction called the Cursed, who have their own goals separate from the other players. One new role unique to the Cursed is The Chemist, who is trying to poison the other characters. The new update also adds a new map.

Post-relaunch, Deceit 2 has a content roadmap that includes Seasons with unique rewards. Naturally, there’s also a Season Pass, though it’s not required for all of the rewards. Season One is called “Humble Beginnings” and launches on April 3, the same day as the console launch.

James Thompson, World Makers’ CEO, said in a statement, “It wasn’t an easy decision moving to a free-to-play model, but we think it’s the right call to reduce the barrier to entry and make sure more people can enjoy Deceit 2. For those players who have already purchased the game ahead of the free-to-play relaunch, we’ll be providing the Werewolf DLC, 3 Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a Season One Pass for free to express our appreciation for their early and continued support.”
