Crocs to launch cowboy boot design complete with spurs

For all they have conquered, Crocs have rarely advanced far beyond the ankle. But that will change when the footwear company launches its own cowboy boot this month.

It said the boot “features a high shine croc-embossed texture and bold western-inspired stitching” and was “embellished with unique metallic Jibbitz charms and a first-of-its-kind spin-able spur charm attached to the backstrap of the shoe”.

The company added: “On the rivet detail, the iconic black and white Crocs logo of Duke, the brand’s beloved crocodile mascot, has gone country, sporting his very own cowboy hat.”

It said the design had been widely requested by regular Crocs wearers. The boot will be available on its website and in some Crocs retail stores for a limited time for $120 (£98) from 23 October.

Crocs have been seen gracing the feet of David Hockney, paired with a Savile Row suit as the artist dined with the new king, as well as Stormzy and Post Malone. Long before that, they had been considered a workwear staple by many. Black Crocs with a faux fur lining were named a bestseller by one retailer last year.

The company said that in the quarter ending 30 September 2022, sales reached almost $1bn (£820m).
