CII suggests CoE for startup ecosystems – Times of India

Visakhapatnam: Stating that many global companies are keenly looking towards Andhra Pradesh, Bharath Biotech joint MD and CII southern region chairperson, Dr Suchitra Ella, suggested the state government to plan a centre of excellence for startup ecosystems as they are the future. Dr Suchitra promised to extend the fullest support to the state government in connecting with the industry.
“The startups need an ecosystem. Some states have moved ahead. CII can work on mentoring the programme and prototype development centre with the AP government,” she said on Saturday. Referring to World Bank data, she said about 40% of graduates in science were women but there are very few scientists. “There is strong need to nurture students to take up the role of a scientist. I would like to know how AP can differentiate. CII will be happy to work with you,” assured Dr Suchitra, adding that AP has marched into big league in a very short span due to its robust ecosystem.
IIM-Visakhapatnam director Prof M Chandrasekhar suggested evolving a model to make students work in the industry/office for one day in his/her first year of course, two days in the second year, three days in the third year, and so on to equip them with the required skill sets before completion of their course.
AICTE chief coordinating officer Dr Buddha Chandrasekhar spoke on the fast-changing technology scenario and the need to keep abreast with the changes.
