One of the nation’s biggest broadband builders is expanding access to communities in Trumbull County.

Brightspeed is installing its fiber network in Trumbull County to serve more than 33,000 people. Currently, Brightspeed Fiber Internet is available for more than 17,000 Trumbull County residents.

According to the release, crews are connecting 2,600 homes and businesses in Howland Center, Champion Heights and Warren’s Oak Knoll neighborhood.

Brightspeed says its network uses the latest technology to bring boosted capabilities and responsiveness to households that use multiple devices to work, stream, study and game.

The expansion in Warren is part of the North Carolina-based company’s $2 billion investment in constructing the next-generation fiber-optic technology to more than three million homes and businesses across 20 states.

Brightspeed says it’s pursuing state and federal funding to close the digital divide across Ohio.
