In 1866, a strange event occurred. Coastal towns and continents were abuzz with rumours. Seafaring people were particularly excited. Ships encountered an enormous, slender object at sea. It was phosphorescent, larger, and faster than a whale. Logbooks described its structure, speed, and locomotion. Governments were deeply concerned about this mysterious creature.
