Opening of IIT campus in Zanzibar marks a new chapter in India’s foreign policy, which recognises and leverages higher technical education as an essential arrow in its quiver of soft power. The new campus will allow India to deepen its engagement with Africa. It will also give IIT a chance to focus on R&D and innovation on issues relevant to the developing world.
