echo lens takes flight in emerald lake
Vincent Leroy tests his latest creation, Echo Lens, on the banks of Emerald Lake in Canada. Made of concentric and optical rings, the kinetic installation transforms the landscape into a dreamlike and poetic vision, as it floats and evolves slowly and soundlessly. Seeking inspiration from the scenic canvasses of the natural world, the French artist continues his experimental exploration, setting his mobile creations against the backdrop of vast spaces across the world, from the Icelandic glaciers to the Californian desert.
the mobile on Emerald Lake
vincent leroy transforms natural landscapes
Sited along the shores of the Emerald Lake in the Canadian Rockies, Echo Lens begins a silent dialogue with the sumptuous landscape that surrounds it without disturbing the peacefulness of the site. The optic ripples echo the almost imperceptible, hypnotic motions of the water, while the transparency of the rings dialogues with the mirrored surface of the lake. In the prism of the mobile, the horizon is diffracted, and the perspective is amplified until transforming the landscape into an abstract and changing camaieu. Through their undulations, the optical rings sometimes reveal the lake in their interstices, blurring the boundaries between illusion and reality.
