The biggest gainers of the session on the were Baytex Energy Corp (TSX:), which rose 5.65% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.87 at the close. Aphria Inc (TSX:) added 5.54% or 0.480 points to end at 9.140 and Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX:) was up 5.26% or 0.310 points to 6.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Precision Drilling Corporation (TSX:), which lost 5.39% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.58 in late trade. MAG Silver Corp (TSX:) declined 5.04% or 0.83 points to end at 15.63 and OceanaGold Corporation (TSX:) shed 4.75% or 0.180 points to 3.610.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 618 to 461 and 107 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 11.46% to 12.75.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.85 to $1512.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.31% or 1.82 to hit $56.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $60.95 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 0.7561, while CAD/EUR fell 0.03% to 0.6766.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 97.683.
