Already thinking of next year’s travel plans?

Airbnb has revealed their top destination predictions for next year – both abroad and at home in the UK.

Already Brits have been searching and booking, with Spain, France, New Zealand and Australia all trending.

And it seems people are either looking for cheaper, short haul destinations or larger-scale travelling trips.

Also, after what will be a thrifty winter for many, it’s predicted the staycations will still reign strong.

According to Airbnb, Tyne and Wear is expected to be the most popular spot on British soil we’ll holiday in.

Overall, the north of England and Scotland seem to be popular choices for domestic holidays, while Spanish hotspots top the trending international destinations list.

Airbnb has found many are looking to escape the cold weather, by favouring tropical destinations this winter – which might explain why Australia is ranking high, as it’s just entering its summer period.

Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: ‘Our data shows that British holidaymakers are exploring both the nearest and farthest corners of the globe for their 2023 escapes, with the north of England and Scotland proving particularly popular for domestic holidays, while sunny Spanish hotspots top the trending international destinations list.

‘As the cold draws in, we often find searches for sunnier climes on the rise – and this year has been no exception – with beach and pool categories proving the most popular for bookings over the festive period.’
